TL;DR · Manufacturing Planner, Maritime Production

Manufacturing Planner, Maritime Production joins the Maritime Manufacturing Technology team to bridge the gap between engineering design, supply chain, and shop-floor execution for advanced autonomous systems. This role involves defining operational sequences for building hardware at scale, creating and maintaining detailed manufacturing plans, and managing MBOM structures while ensuring work instructions comply with rigorous standards like NAVSEA. Day-to-day responsibilities include optimizing MES routings, coordinating engineering changes, managing production schedules, and providing hands-on support during new product introductions and rate ramp-ups. The position requires expertise in MES and Product Data Management software, as well as proficiency in interpreting complex engineering drawings and technical specifications. Candidates will utilize skills in manufacturing planning, production control, and root-cause analysis to solve problems related to the large-scale production of maritime defense hardware including surface, undersea, and sea-to-air vehicles.

What you'll do

  • Create and maintain comprehensive manufacturing plans and translate 2D/3D engineering drawings into clear work instructions.
  • Build and optimize operational process routings within the Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
  • Manage MBOM structures and ensure accurate configuration management from the Engineering Bill of Materials.
  • Establish build sequences, monitor order flow, and make production scheduling decisions to support manufacturing ramp-ups.
  • Coordinate engineering changes by assessing impacts on active plans, MES routings, and hardware delivery timelines.
  • Provide DFM and DFA input during design reviews to optimize assembly sequences for cost and scalability.
  • Analyze manufacturing discrepancies and scrap data using root-cause analysis to improve production efficiency.
  • Provide hands-on planning support on the shop floor during new product introductions and prototype builds.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing planning, production planning, or production control in complex electromechanical or hardware environments.
  • Experience in a New Product Introduction (NPI) environment transitioning products from design to high-rate production.
  • Expertise in creating and maintaining MBOMs, building process routings, and translating EBOM structures.
  • Hands-on experience with MES and Product Data Management (PDM) software.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, technical specifications, and process maps.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to export-controlled information requirements.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (preferred); experience in maritime/aerospace defense; ERP, CAD, PLM, or JIRA experience (preferred).
