Manager II, Engineering - Observability Pipelines

What you'll do

• Manage the Observability Pipelines engineering organization and its distributed teams across multiple locations.
• Build out management and technical leadership layers to scale the growing engineering department.
• Partner with Product teams to co-own the roadmap, strategy, and investment priorities.
• Establish and evolve operating rhythms including planning cadences, on-call standards, and incident protocols.
• Manage cross-org relationships with internal teams and the Vector open-source community.
• Coach managers and senior engineers while developing succession and growth plans.
• Guide architectural decisions and build-vs-buy evaluations for high-throughput data infrastructure.

What we're looking for

• Experience managing managers across distributed teams.
• Background in distributed systems and high-throughput data infrastructure.
• Familiarity with the operational tradeoffs of on-premises or customer-installed software.
• Ability to act as a strategic partner to Product by co-owning roadmaps and strategy.
• Commercial awareness to connect engineering decisions to business outcomes.
• Experience with high-performance or Rust-based data pipeline systems is a plus.
• Eligibility for required U.S. government export control authorizations.
