Machine Learning Engineer, Core Engineering

What you'll do

• Build cutting-edge technology using deep learning and machine learning to personalize the Pinterest experience.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to experiment with and improve ML models for Homefeed, Ads, Growth, Shopping, and Search.
• Use data-driven methods and unique data properties to improve candidate retrieval systems.
• Develop and maintain end-to-end data processing pipelines and large-scale machine learning systems.
• Utilize big data technologies like Hadoop and Spark to manage large-scale infrastructure.
• Execute rapid experimentation and product launches in a high-impact environment.
• Monitor and integrate current industry trends in recommendation systems into the product.

What we're looking for

• Must have at least 2 years of industry experience applying machine learning methods like user modeling, personalization, and recommender systems.
• Must have end-to-end hands-on experience building data processing pipelines and large-scale machine learning systems.
• Must be proficient with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark.
• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in computer science, machine learning, statistics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience using AI coding assistants like Cursor, Copilot, or Codex is preferred.
• Familiarity with LLM-powered productivity tools for documentation, experiment analysis, and engineering workflows is preferred.
• Expertise in scalable real-time systems that process stream data is preferred.
• Candidates with an M.S. or PhD in Machine Learning or publications at top ML conferences are preferred.
