The Machine Learning / Computer Vision Engineer joins the Computer Vision Systems team to develop intelligence for Snapdragon-powered devices, including mobile phones, autonomous vehicles, and robotics. You will research, design, and implement critical video processing and computer vision algorithms such as depth estimation, optical flow, video super-resolution, 3D reconstruction, and SLAM. The role involves developing optimized model architectures and training strategies for deep learning at the edge, specifically addressing transformers, attention, VLA/VLM, and world models. You will profile performance across memory, compute, and power constraints on resource-constrained SoC platforms. Required skills include Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, and OpenCV. You will solve technical problems by mapping algorithms to neural-processing accelerator architectures, ensuring efficient on-device implementation for diverse hardware and software boundaries.
Research, design, and implement video processing and computer vision algorithms like depth estimation and SLAM.
Develop optimized deep learning model architectures and training strategies for edge deployment.
Profile and optimize algorithm performance across memory, compute, power, and bandwidth constraints.
Own the training and development of new release models for key customer segments.
Develop supervised and non-reference quality metrics to assess model performance for various use cases.
Write technical documentation, design specifications, and feature descriptions for internal and external partners.
Manage the development and release process for major algorithm features while meeting stakeholder requirements.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of relevant engineering work experience.
Master's degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of relevant engineering work experience.
PhD in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
Strong background in computer vision and video processing algorithms, including 3+ years of experience developing and implementing them within system-level products (preferred).
Hands-on experience with modern deep learning architectures (preferred).
Strong coding skills in Python for production-quality development using ML/CV frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, ONNX, and OpenCV (C/C++ is a plus) (preferred).
Experience deploying AI algorithms on the edge and understanding associated resource limitations like power and memory bandwidth (preferred).
3+ years of experience working in a large, matrixed organization (preferred).
