JOB TITLE: Linux/UNIX Systems Administrator - Vice President
The Linux/UNIX Systems Administrator - Vice President joins the Global Low Latency UNIX Support Team to manage a global infrastructure of over 2,300 servers across exchange colocation sites and core data centers. This role involves the full hardware lifecycle, including planning, deployment, and vendor management for critical trading and market-facing platforms. Key responsibilities include performing advanced Linux and latency-specific tuning, such as CPU isolation and kernel-level enhancements, while designing and validating engineering releases. The candidate must possess deep expertise in SLES, RHEL, and enterprise hardware like HP ProLiant. Required technical skills include TCP/IP networking, InfiniBand, and Ethernet hardware, alongside automation tools like Perl, Shell, and Ansible. The work focuses on solving ultra-low-latency performance challenges for Foreign Exchange, Equities, and Algorithmic Trading.
Provide rapid response support for production incidents across global low-latency UNIX infrastructure.
Plan, deploy, activate, and maintain low-latency server hardware and operating systems in colocation sites.
Perform advanced Linux tuning including CPU isolation, real-time threads, and kernel-level enhancements.
Design, test, and validate engineering releases and RPM packages for ultra-low-latency applications.
Automate infrastructure administration and operational tasks using Perl, Shell, and Ansible.
Lead technical decision-making during complex incidents and performance investigations across multiple regions.
Drive standardization and coordinate with vendors to assess and implement new technologies.
What we're looking for
Extensive experience administering enterprise Linux environments, specifically SLES and RHEL, including upgrades, patching, and performance management.
Deep knowledge of low-latency systems engineering, including Linux kernel tuning, real-time kernels, and kernel bypass technologies.
Strong expertise in TCP/IP networking, routing, Ethernet bonding, and protocols such as NFS, DNS, and SSH.
Experience with enterprise server hardware, including HP ProLiant DL380/580 and Synergy platforms, and storage technologies like EMC and NetApp.
Experience using Perl, Shell, and/or Ansible to automate infrastructure administration and operational tasks.
Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity and optimize workflows while ensuring ethical data use.
Experience with VMware and Google Cloud Platform (preferred).
Excellent analytical and forensic troubleshooting skills in high-pressure environments (preferred).
