As a Lead Software Engineer - Regulatory Reporting within the External Reporting and Financial Technology team, you will serve as a core technical contributor focused on the Last Mile Reporting platform. You will design, build, and improve scalable architecture and infrastructure while ensuring reliable regulatory and financial reporting capabilities. Your daily responsibilities include developing high-quality production code, performing code reviews, and implementing AI-assisted engineering, prompt engineering, and agent-based workflows to automate manual efforts. You will utilize Python, Java, SQL, and cloud technologies including AWS and Kubernetes to manage complex data flows and integration patterns. The role requires expertise in system design, CI/CD, and monitoring within a production environment. You will solve critical problems regarding reporting data quality, reconciliation, and control requirements while navigating the complexities of financial data interpretation and regulatory change initiatives.
Design, build, and improve the Last Mile Reporting platform architecture and infrastructure.
Develop high-quality production code in Python and Java while reviewing and debugging peer code.
Implement AI prompt engineering and agent-based workflows to automate manual tasks and improve stability.
Evaluate architectural options, data flows, and integration patterns for regulatory and financial reporting solutions.
Lead the adoption of emerging engineering practices including AI-assisted development and responsible technology use.
Manage system design, testing, deployment, and monitoring for complex enterprise applications.
Build and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure using AWS, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
Perform data modeling, analysis, and reconciliation to ensure high-quality reporting data flows.
What we're looking for
5+ years of relevant software engineering experience including hands-on delivery and support of enterprise technology platforms.
Demonstrated experience building and supporting regulatory and/or financial reporting applications in production environments.
Strong understanding of application, platform, and data architecture, including scalable infrastructure, integration patterns, reliability, and operational support.
Hands-on programming experience in Python, Java, or other mainstream programming languages to design, build, test, and maintain high-quality code.
Practical experience delivering system design, development, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational stability for complex applications.
Experience with AI tools, prompt engineering, and building AI-enabled workflows, assistants, or agents for engineering and operational processes.
Strong understanding of cloud architecture (AWS, Kubernetes), containerized deployment, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices.
Strong SQL and data analysis skills including data modeling, reporting flows, and quality controls; experience with Axiom ControllerView or Databricks is preferred.
