Lead Principal Network Engineer serves as a technical authority for the physical networking program of OCI Dedicated Region25. This individual contributor role involves owning end-to-end physical and logical network architecture, including BGP, OSPF, IPv6, and high availability designs. The engineer will translate business requirements into detailed designs, manage cross-functional initiatives from definition to production, and develop infrastructure-as-code using Python, APIs, Git-based workflows, and automation frameworks. Key responsibilities include establishing monitoring strategies, performing root-cause analysis for complex incidents, and evaluating new network platforms and optics. The role requires expertise in data-center fabrics, VxLAN, EVPN, and ECMP while utilizing tools like Ansible, Terraform, and YANG. Own the end-to-end physical and logical network architecture for the DR25 program.
Design complex networking systems including BGP, OSPF routing policies, IPv6, and high availability.
Translate business requirements into technical designs, deployment specifications, and operational plans.
Lead cross-functional initiatives from initial problem definition through final production delivery.
Build and govern network infrastructure-as-code using Python, APIs, and Git-based workflows.
Drive production readiness through failure testing, capacity planning, and the creation of operational runbooks.
Serve as a senior escalation point for complex incidents to lead root-cause analysis and engineering improvements.
Evaluate new hardware, optics, and vendor capabilities to influence product roadmaps and lifecycle decisions.
What we're looking for
Must have experience, or a bachelor's degree plus , or a master's plus , or a doctorate plus .
Expert-level knowledge in at least one major networking specialty such as data-center fabrics, routing, cloud networking, automation, security, or operations.
Deep experience with BGP, OSPF, IPv4/IPv6, VxLAN, EVPN, ECMP, high-availability design, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, NAT, QoS, and data-center Ethernet fabrics.
Demonstrated success architecting and operating large-scale, highly available data-center, service-provider, or cloud networks.
Strong software and automation skills using Python or other modern programming languages, APIs, Git, CI/CD, configuration modeling, and automated testing.
Experience leading complex technical programs across engineering, operations, product, security, and deployment organizations.
Proven ability to lead major production changes, troubleshoot complex failures, conduct root-cause analysis, and communicate with senior leadership.
Two or more years serving as a technical lead (preferred); experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible or Terraform (preferred).
