The Lead Principal Electrical Engineer joins the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Hardware Engineering team as a senior individual contributor. This role focuses on developing AI/GPU, compute, and storage platforms, where the engineer owns system-level technical decisions from platform definition through production readiness. Key responsibilities include leading architecture, implementation, integration, and validation for server and rack-scale systems. The engineer will author hardware specifications, lead design reviews for schematics and thermal management, and drive platform bring-up and debugging. Required technical expertise includes x86 and ARM architectures, CPUs, GPUs, DDR memory, PCIe, and high-speed Ethernet. The role involves solving complex hardware, firmware, and software issues while managing technical execution with JDM partners and suppliers to ensure platform reliability and performance in cloud environments.
Lead design reviews for schematics, board layout, thermal management, power delivery, and signal integrity.
Drive platform bring-up and debugging across hardware, firmware, and software components.
Evaluate processors, accelerators, memory, and storage components for future platform development.
Lead technical execution with JDM partners, ODMs, and suppliers to meet production-readiness milestones.
Perform root-cause analysis and resolution for complex issues across manufacturing, deployment, and fleet operations.
What we're looking for
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
16+ years of hardware and systems engineering experience, including recent technical leadership of complex server, AI/GPU, storage, or networking platforms.
Proven ownership of complex hardware platforms from architecture through qualification and production deployment.
Proven ability to independently resolve ambiguous problems across hardware, firmware, software, manufacturing, and system configuration.
Demonstrated ability to technically lead internal engineering teams and external development partners through design decisions and production readiness.
Strong understanding of x86 and ARM server architectures, CPUs, GPUs, AI accelerators, DDR memory, PCIe, high-speed Ethernet, storage, and BMC/firmware architectures.
Experience reviewing hierarchical schematics, high-density PCB layouts, cross-board connectivity, power architecture, signal integrity, and mechanical and thermal designs.
Hands-on experience with system bring-up, BIOS/UEFI, BMC firmware, Linux-based diagnostics, scripting, and hardware debugging tools.
