Lead Infrastructure Engineer

What you'll do

• Migrate and modernize mainframe-adjacent workloads by refactoring components and designing transition architectures for Azure.
• Build and manage core Azure infrastructure including VNETs, routing, firewalls, and identity integrations.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or Bicep integrated with CI/CD pipelines.
• Design and troubleshoot hybrid connectivity solutions using ExpressRoute, VPN, and Virtual WAN architectures.
• Optimize network performance by configuring BGP, MTU/MSS settings, and bandwidth planning for critical data flows.
• Identify and remediate bottlenecks across compute, storage, and networking layers to ensure system reliability.
• Establish monitoring, observability, and alerting systems using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
• Apply cloud security best practices and governance controls to ensure secure infrastructure operations.

What we're looking for

• 10+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering for cloud or datacenter environments.
• Direct experience supporting modernization or migration from mainframe environments to distributed or cloud platforms.
• Practical experience with Microsoft Azure networking, including VNETs, routing, NSGs, Firewall, Private Link, and DNS.
• Experience with hybrid connectivity tools such as ExpressRoute, VPN, Virtual WAN, and hub/spoke architectures.
• Ability to set up, troubleshoot, and performance-tune hybrid connectivity metrics like latency, throughput, and MTU/MSS settings.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Bicep/ARM within Git-based workflows.
• Experience with modernization patterns (rehost, replatform, refactor) and mainframe system integrations (preferred).
• Experience with Azure Landing Zone, CAF, containers (AKS), or API management (preferred).
