JOB TITLE: Lead Hardware Reliability Engineer (Starlink)
As a Lead Hardware Reliability Engineer, you will lead a team of engineers and specialists focused on the reliability and field performance of the Starlink User Terminal Kit, including user terminals, Wi-Fi routers, power supplies, and cables. You will develop reliability qualification strategies, manage technical investigations into fleet-wide hardware issues, and oversee production quality activities to minimize customer downtime. Your daily work involves designing and executing environmental, mechanical, electrical, RF, and system-level reliability testing while maintaining ISO 9001 requirements. You will use data visualization and engineering tools to automate test execution and telemetry analysis. The role requires deep knowledge of Wi-Fi standards, PCBAs, and high-volume manufacturing to identify failure mechanisms and drive corrective actions across the product lifecycle from factory to field.
Lead and mentor a team of engineers focused on hardware reliability and field performance for Starlink products.
Develop and execute reliability qualification strategies for new and existing products to maximize field life.
Design and execute environmental, mechanical, electrical, RF, and system-level reliability testing.
Lead root cause investigations for qualification, production, and field failures to drive corrective actions.
Automate reliability test execution, data analysis, and reporting using engineering tools.
Monitor field metrics and telemetry to identify hardware performance trends and reliability shortcomings.
Oversee production quality activities including containments, defect processing, and factory compliance.
Identify manufacturing inefficiencies and drive process improvements to increase first-pass yield and reduce scrap.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, materials, manufacturing, aerospace engineering, or another engineering discipline.
2+ years of experience executing complex engineering projects in design qualification, manufacturing, hardware reliability, reliability test, or a production environment.
1+ years of experience in a leadership position leading a team of 3+ engineers.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for required Department of State authorizations.
Must be willing to relocate to Bastrop, TX and travel up to 30% for work.
Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, materials, manufacturing, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline (preferred).
Experience developing and executing product qualification or hardware reliability strategies (preferred).
Experience with PCB, PCBA, electromechanical assemblies, and complex hardware systems (preferred).
