JOB TITLE: Lead Electrical Engineer, Hardware Reliability (Starlink)
The Lead Electrical Engineer, Hardware Reliability (Starlink) leads a team of engineers and specialists focused on hardware reliability and field performance for the Starlink User Terminal Kit, including user terminals, Wi-Fi routers, power supplies, and cables. This role involves developing reliability qualification strategies, managing technical investigations into fleet-wide performance issues, and designing environmental, mechanical, electrical, and RF reliability tests. The engineer will automate test execution and data analysis while overseeing production quality activities and maintaining ISO 9001 requirements. Key responsibilities include performing telemetry and log analysis to debug failed phased-array, Wi-Fi, and power supply PCBAs. The position requires expertise in reliability engineering principles, failure mechanisms, and high-volume manufacturing to minimize hardware failures and customer downtime within the Starlink product lifecycle.
Lead and mentor a team of engineers focused on hardware reliability and field performance for Starlink products.
Develop and execute reliability qualification strategies for new and existing products to maximize field life.
Design and execute environmental, mechanical, electrical, RF, and system-level reliability testing.
Lead root cause investigations for qualification, production, and field failures to drive corrective actions.
Automate reliability test execution, data analysis, and reporting using engineering tools.
Oversee production quality activities including containments, material review boards, and factory compliance.
Identify manufacturing inefficiencies and drive process improvements to increase first-pass yield and reduce scrap.
Monitor hardware telemetry and field metrics to identify and mitigate long-term reliability risks.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, materials, manufacturing, aerospace engineering, or another engineering discipline.
2+ years of experience executing complex engineering projects in design qualification, manufacturing, hardware reliability, reliability test, or a production environment.
1+ years of experience in a leadership position leading a team of 3+ engineers.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible for required Department of State authorizations.
Master’s degree in electrical, mechanical, materials, manufacturing, aerospace engineering, or a related engineering discipline (preferred).
Experience developing and executing product qualification or hardware reliability strategies (preferred).
Experience with PCB, PCBA, electromechanical assemblies, and complex hardware systems (preferred).
Experience with high-volume manufacturing and transitioning hardware from development into mass production (preferred).
