Lead Flight Management Software Engineer – I/O, Diagnostics, and Redundancy joins the Flight Management System team to develop and verify safety-critical, real-time embedded software for both legacy and next-generation avionics programs. The role involves architecting and maintaining low-level middleware and platform functions, including digital and analog I/O interfaces, system diagnostics, BootROM, dual-redundancy management, and cross-loading capabilities. You will work across the full software lifecycle, from requirements and design to implementation and verification. Key technical requirements include proficiency in Ada and C programming within a DO-178 regulated environment. The role requires expertise in avionics communication and partitioning standards such as ARINC 429, ARINC 653, and MIL-STD-1553. You will solve complex problems related to flight management systems and safety-critical aerospace platforms while ensuring technical compliance across multiple programs through collaboration with hardware and certification teams.

What you'll do

Develop and maintain real-time embedded software for avionics computer systems and Flight Management Systems.
Design and implement low-level middleware including I/O interfaces, diagnostics, BootROM, and redundancy management.
Write and maintain safety-critical software using Ada and C languages.
Create and maintain software requirements, low-level designs, and interface documentation for certification compliance.
Perform software verification activities including test development, debugging, and integration.
Resolve technical issues across both new product development and legacy system maintenance.
Communicate program status, technical risks, and mitigation plans to engineering leadership.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
6+ years of professional experience in embedded software development or avionics software design.
Strong experience developing software in Ada and/or C for real-time embedded systems.
Experience working in a DO-178 or similarly regulated software development environment.
Experience with the full embedded software lifecycle, including requirements, design, coding, integration, verification, and debug.
U.S. citizenship status is required.
Experience with flight management systems, avionics computers, or other safety-critical aerospace platforms (preferred).
Export-controlled information.
