As a Lead Engineer in Target’s Cloud & Compute organization, you will serve as the technical anchor for an engineering team supporting critical product infrastructure. You will work on cloud-native platforms, reliability practices, and developer-facing capabilities across Kubernetes, container platforms, compute and storage, Kafka, observability, SRE, and more. With deep expertise in scalable distributed systems and proficiency in languages like Java, Go, Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript, you will collaborate with product, engineering, and security teams to build reliable services, improve automation, define operational standards, and enhance observability. What you'll do

  • Define and drive the architectural changes needed to improve product quality and service.

What we're looking for

  • 7+ years of software development experience including full cycle implementation.
  • Proven leadership in leading at least one full-cycle product or platform initiative.
  • Expertise in designing, building, and operating scalable, reliable distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, Go, Python, TypeScript.
  • Broad technical knowledge across cloud-native domains like Kubernetes, containers, SRE.
  • Ability to define technical strategy and make engineering tradeoffs for performance, security.
  • Effective communication with project teams, partners, and stakeholders.
