The Lead, EMI/EMC Engineer joins the engineering organization to support various defense programs. This role involves contributing to the architecture, analysis, testing, and documentation of products to ensure compliance with electromagnetic compatibility standards. Key responsibilities include collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to integrate requirements into product design, performing component partitioning, cable design, and grounding strategies. The engineer will conduct trade studies, perform simulations, and execute troubleshooting for product design and test. Daily tasks involve developing EMI control plans, maintaining certification documentation, and participating in laboratory and chamber test activities. Required skills include proficiency with oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and simulation tools like Ansys HFSS, Keysight ADS, and SPICE. The role addresses technical problems regarding radiated and conducted emissions, coupling effects, and compliance with MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-464 standards.

What you'll do

  • Integrate E3/EMI/EMC requirements into product design, planning, testing, and documentation in compliance with MIL-STD-461.
  • Perform component partitioning, packaging, cable design, grounding, and isolation for system and sub-system levels.
  • Conduct schematic reviews and CCA layouts specifically for EMI considerations.
  • Execute trade studies and basic simulations relevant to EMI/EMC requirements.
  • Develop EMI control plans, test procedures, and comprehensive test reports.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for product certification and engineering release.
  • Set up equipment and collect data during laboratory and chamber test activities.
  • Support proposal efforts for new business opportunities regarding EMI/EMC requirements.

What we're looking for

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance (Secret or higher).
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Electrical Engineering) and minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Graduate Degree and a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum of 13 years of prior related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in EMI/EMC engineering roles (preferred).
  • Solid working knowledge of EMI/EMC design concepts, including shielding, source suppression, grounding, and containment (preferred).
  • Experience designing to and/or testing against MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, and applicable commercial standards (preferred).
  • U.S. citizens.
