The Lead Business Intelligence Engineer joins the People team as a trusted partner to lead business intelligence and analytics engineering initiatives. This role involves translating ambiguous business needs into technical requirements, designing scalable data pipelines, and developing self-service analytics solutions to enable data-informed decision-making for HR leadership and stakeholders. The successful candidate will build and maintain robust data models while providing technical mentorship to the team. Key technologies include SQL, Python, BigQuery, Airflow, Visier, Looker, and Posit. The role requires expertise in dimensional modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and statistical methods such as regression and time series analysis. This position specifically addresses the challenge of managing and analyzing People data, including workforce and Talent Acquisition information, to provide actionable insights while ensuring high standards for data quality, privacy, and security within the organization's internal systems.
Lead high-impact business intelligence and analytics engineering initiatives from problem definition through final delivery.
Translate ambiguous business requirements into clear technical specifications and actionable analytical approaches for stakeholders.
Design and architect reliable, scalable data pipelines and models using SQL, Python, BigQuery, and Airflow.
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of key data products, including architecture, quality, monitoring, and maintenance.
Conduct rigorous analysis to translate complex findings into clear insights for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Identify opportunities to automate processes, improve data quality, and build scalable self-service analytics solutions.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members while establishing engineering standards and best practices.
What we're looking for
A BS/BA degree in a technical field or a research-based social science field is required.
6+ years of experience in business intelligence engineering, analytics engineering, data engineering, quantitative analysis, or a related field are required.
A Master’s degree in a technical field with 5+ years of post-grad experience or a PhD in a related technical field with 2+ years of post-grad experience is acceptable.
6+ years of experience with SQL and development in at least one object-oriented or scripting language (Python preferred) are required.
3+ years of experience designing and building dashboards and end-user analytics solutions using tools like Looker, Tableau, Visier, or Posit is required.
Advanced skills in Python and SQL to build data pipelines and models are required.
Experience with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Airflow, and Git (preferred).
Experience working with People data and platforms like Visier is preferred.
