The role requires expertise in Java, Spring, .NET, Angular, Python, Assembler, COBOL, SQL, No-SQL, and OpenShift. The work focuses on modernizing and integrating mainframe systems with distributed platforms like microservices and APIs within a complex hybrid mainframe-cloud ecosystem to improve engineering outcomes at scale.

What you'll do

  • Establish engineering standards for code quality, architecture patterns, and CI/CD practices across the Issuer Solutions portfolio.
  • Conduct solution architecture reviews and code reviews for Java, .NET, Angular, and Python technologies.
  • Define reusable patterns, reference implementations, and decision frameworks for independent team adoption.
  • Translate corporate platform mandates into actionable delivery plans for development teams.
  • Evaluate, pilot, and operationalize AI-assisted engineering tools to improve quality and throughput.
  • Identify systemic quality issues and build internal tools or contribute to critical-path code as needed.
  • Deliver technical training and mentoring on AI adoption and advanced architectural thinking.

What we're looking for

  • 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 5 years at a staff, principal, or architect level.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with mainframe and distributed technologies, including Assembler, COBOL, and Java-based enterprise applications.
  • 8+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and AppOps practices including production support and incident management.
  • 8+ years of experience with cloud-native and containerized environments (OpenShift, AWS/Azure/GCP) in hybrid mainframe-cloud ecosystems.
  • 8+ years of experience with modern databases (SQL, No-SQL) and mainframe data stores.
  • 5+ years of experience in modernizing and integrating mainframe systems with distributed platforms like microservices and APIs.
  • 3+ years of experience adopting and championing AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering outcomes at scale.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education, work, and military experience.
