The Jira Manager is responsible for the strategic administration, governance, optimization, and delivery of the Jira platform and related Atlassian tools across the organization. This role involves designing, configuring, and continuously improving Jira to support business workflows, project delivery, service management, and software development. The individual will manage day-to-day configurations including projects, workflows, permissions, and automation rules while partnering with stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions. Key responsibilities include developing reporting dashboards, ensuring platform security, and leading migrations or integrations. The role requires expertise in Jira Cloud, Jira Data Center, Confluence, and Jira Service Management, along with familiarity with tools like ScriptRunner and Insight. This position solves the challenge of maintaining a scalable, well-governed ecosystem to improve operational efficiency and data consistency across various business functions.
Manage the overall strategy, roadmap, and governance standards for the Jira platform and Atlassian ecosystem.
Perform day-to-day administration of projects, workflows, permissions, automation rules, and system configurations.
Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions for various departments.
Drive process optimization by designing automated workflows to reduce manual effort and improve data quality.
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and metrics to provide leadership with actionable insights.
Lead the training, mentoring, and development of Jira administrators and support resources.
Ensure platform security, audit readiness, and compliance across all integrated tools and systems.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or a related field is required or equivalent practical experience.
6+ years of hands-on experience administering and configuring Jira in a business or enterprise environment are required.
3+ years of experience leading Jira-related initiatives, platform governance, or people/project management responsibilities are required.
Deep expertise in Jira administration including workflows, schemes, permissions, issue types, screen configurations, custom fields, and automation is required.
Strong understanding of the Atlassian ecosystem, specifically Confluence and Jira Service Management, is required.
Experience with Atlassian marketplace apps such as ScriptRunner, Automation for Jira, Insight/Assets, Structure, or Tempo is preferred.
Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, Kanban, ITIL, or other service management frameworks is required.
Atlassian certifications or other relevant platform certifications are preferred.
