The IT Security Engineer, Space joins the Space team to manage and maintain classified infrastructure end-to-end for space domain awareness and command and control systems. This role involves hardening Windows and Linux operating systems, managing virtual infrastructure via VMware vSphere, and ensuring STIG compliance using SCAP and SCC tools. You will be responsible for configuring enterprise services like Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and WSUS while developing automation scripts and Ansible playbooks to ensure configuration consistency. The position requires technical expertise in PowerShell, Bash, or Python to automate tasks and manage security posture. Working within a defense context, you will address the challenge of maintaining resilient, mission-ready environments for space operations. Candidates must be able to navigate the ATO process, perform vulnerability remediation, and provide technical evidence during security assessments to ensure infrastructure remains secure.
Administer Windows and Linux systems while maintaining approved hardened baselines for classified infrastructure.
Manage VMware vSphere virtual infrastructure including provisioning, patching, and STIG compliance.
Apply and validate STIGs across various platforms using SCAP, SCC, and manual methods.
Configure and maintain enterprise services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and WSUS.
Develop automation scripts and Ansible playbooks to ensure configuration consistency and reduce manual effort.
Monitor system health and security posture while proactively responding to alerts and anomalies.
Implement technical remediations for vulnerability scan findings within required timelines.
Maintain backup and recovery procedures to meet established RPO and RTO targets.
What we're looking for
Experience administering and hardening Windows Server and Linux (RHEL) in classified environments.
Hands-on VMware vSphere administration including provisioning and patching.
Ability to apply and validate STIGs using SCAP/SCC tools.
Experience managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise patch management.
Proficiency in scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python and Ansible.
Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Experience with VMware vSAN and Horizon/VDI environments (preferred).
Familiarity with engineering applications like Siemens NX, Teamcenter, or other CAD/CAM/CAE software (preferred); relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, RHCSA, VCP, or equivalent (preferred).
