The IT Network Engineer (OT) joins the IT Network Engineering team to maintain a stable, reliable, and diverse network supporting the design, manufacturing, and launching of rockets, spacecraft, satellites, and human spaceflight. This role involves designing and implementing highly available industrial and OT networks for production, test, site operations, and data center environments. Key responsibilities include deploying hardware like switches, firewalls, and SD-WAN appliances; developing automation tools; performing root-cause analysis; and providing real-time support during launch campaigns. The candidate will utilize Cisco, Arista, and Juniper hardware alongside fiber optics, WDM, and various networking protocols. Technical skills required include scripting in Bash, PowerShell, or Python, as well as experience with Terraform, Ansible, GitOps, and Linux/Windows administration. The role focuses on industrial control networks and segmenting industrial systems from corporate networks to ensure high-reliability operations.
Design and implement highly available routing and switching for production, test, and site operations.
Develop and contribute to network automation tooling for configuration analysis and scalable deployment.
Troubleshoot network issues and publish root-cause analyses following retrospective reviews.
Provide real-time networking support during launch and test campaigns as the responsible engineer.
Segment industrial networks from corporate networks while maintaining strict controls-network segmentation.
Create technical documentation including architecture drawings, IP/VLAN schemes, and data flow diagrams.
Manage hardware procurement and deployment for switches, firewalls, multiplexing, and SD-WAN appliances.
Support on-site physical network cutovers and new site commissioning.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or another STEM discipline and 3+ years of professional network engineering experience.
High school diploma or equivalency certificate and 5+ years of professional network engineering experience.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
Experience in industrial, utility, or operational technology (OT) network engineering (preferred).
Proficiency with Cisco, Arista, and Juniper data center-class switches (preferred).
Knowledge of Wave Division Multiplexing (WDM), fiber optics, and various enterprise/media protocols (preferred).
Skills in scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python), automation frameworks (Terraform, Ansible), and Linux/Windows administration (preferred).
Industry-standard certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIS, or JNCIP (preferred).
