The InterSystems IRIS Developer joins the engineering team to lead the design, development, and modernization of business-critical platforms. This role involves translating product requirements into scalable technical designs, developing ObjectScript-based services, APIs, and batch processes, and optimizing data-centric applications. The developer will perform migrations from Cache to IRIS, manage data structures, and ensure operational resilience through root-cause analysis and secure software practices. Key technical requirements include extensive experience with InterSystems Cache, InterSystems IRIS, ObjectScript, SQL, and performance tuning. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban. Lead the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of applications built on InterSystems Cache and IRIS.
Translate product requirements into technical designs while identifying risks, dependencies, and phased delivery plans.
Develop, test, and document ObjectScript-based services, APIs, batch processes, and data workflows.
Optimize data structures, SQL access, and application logic for performance, scalability, and reliability.
Lead modernization efforts including legacy component upgrades and migrations from Cache to IRIS.
Implement integration patterns such as REST APIs, messaging, and file or batch processing.
Troubleshoot incidents and perform root-cause analysis to improve operational resilience.
Mentor engineers across various teams while ensuring secure software development practices are followed.
What we're looking for
7+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership for enterprise systems with ownership of design, mentoring, and delivery accountability.
5+ years of hands-on experience with InterSystems Cache and/or InterSystems IRIS, including strong ObjectScript development and support expertise.
3+ years of experience building and supporting high-performance, data-centric applications with SQL, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning, and operational readiness in IRIS/Cache environments.
2+ years of Agile delivery experience using Scrum or Kanban, including story refinement, estimation, sprint planning, demos, retrospectives, and participation in production support.
3+ years of experience with IRIS/Cache administration or close operational partnership (preferred).
2+ years of experience with interoperability and engineering enablement, including REST/JSON APIs, messaging, ETL pipelines, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and Git-based workflows (preferred).
1+ year of experience in regulated environments such as financial services, along with Linux/Unix scripting and InterSystems certifications in IRIS, Cache, HealthShare, or Ensemble (preferred).
