Intern Cybersecurity Specialist – 2027 is a role within the IBM Consulting FutureNow Center where you will work alongside experienced professionals to solve complex security challenges for diverse clients. You will contribute to projects involving threat detection, security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and governance, risk, and compliance. Your daily work involves analyzing security events and operational data to identify trends, documenting processes, and supporting cybersecurity assessments. To succeed in this role, you must possess a foundational understanding of networking, operating systems, and enterprise technology. You will utilize tools involving Artificial Intelligence, cloud technologies, and threat intelligence to protect critical systems and digital operations. This position focuses on building cyber resilience for clients across sectors like healthcare, finance, and manufacturing by implementing modern security practices and advanced enterprise security solutions.
Analyze operational data and cyber risks to identify trends and provide recommendations for client safety.
Test and validate cybersecurity solutions to protect critical business systems and information.
Utilize AI-enabled tools and modern technologies to defend against evolving cyber threats.
Assist in the development of specialized expertise in CyberDefend or Cyber Threat Management.
What we're looking for
High School Diploma or GED is required.
A Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, networking, operating systems, security best practices, and enterprise technology environments.
Demonstrated application of technical or analytical skills through coursework, labs, projects, competitions, research, internships, or personal learning.
Interest in cybersecurity, cloud technologies, risk management, Artificial Intelligence, and digital transformation concepts.
Exposure to cybersecurity operations, governance, risk management, compliance, or enterprise security technologies (preferred).
Familiarity with security monitoring, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, identity and access management, or recognized cybersecurity frameworks (preferred).
