The Information System Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the operational security posture of assigned systems while supporting the ISSM in fulfilling their duties. This role involves ensuring systems are operated and disposed of according to security plans, managing account documentation, conducting periodic assessments, and reporting security incidents. The individual will monitor recovery processes, manage configuration control board tasks, and ensure all security documentation remains current. Key responsibilities include implementing RMF-based security controls and analyzing complex security issues for database and software environments. Required expertise includes experience with collateral and special access programs in classified environments, knowledge of DoD 5200.01, ICDs, CNSSI 1253, NIST SP 800-53, JSIG, and DAAG standards. Candidates must possess a TS/SCI clearance and a Security+ CE certification to manage security for high-security information systems.
Maintain and manage the operational security posture for all assigned systems.
Ensure system operations, maintenance, and disposal comply with established security policies.
Manage account documentation for adding and deleting system accounts.
Conduct periodic assessments of authorized systems to identify and report vulnerabilities.
Collect and analyze audit records in accordance with the security plan.
Report all security-related incidents and notify leadership of changes affecting authorization.
Monitor system recovery processes to ensure security features are properly restored.
Serve as a member of the Configuration Control Board when designated.
