HW Dev Engineer II - Payload, Amazon Leo Hardware Development joins the team of experts developing advanced satellite systems for a Low Earth Orbit constellation providing high-speed broadband connectivity. This role involves designing and optimizing circuitry for satellite systems, creating proof of concept prototypes for next-generation hardware, and leading or reviewing PCB layouts. The engineer will collaborate with radiation, power, mechanical, thermal, RF, and software teams while managing automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory tests. They will also conduct bring-up and qualification test campaigns throughout the full design lifecycle from concept to production. Required skills include experience in board level analog/digital design, high-speed digital design with multi-gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity, and using schematic tools. Technical proficiency includes Mentor Graphics or Cadence layout tools, lab equipment like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, and programming for instrument control.
Design and optimize circuitry for satellite systems.
Develop proof of concept prototypes for next-generation satellite hardware.
Lead and review PCB layouts using industry standard tools.
Design automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory testing procedures.
Execute bring-up and qualification test campaigns for satellite hardware.
Debug and validate products throughout the entire design lifecycle from concept to production.
What we're looking for
Candidates must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee or granted asylum.
4+ years of experience in electrical engineering or equivalent experience.
3+ years of industrial experience in board level analog/digital design.
1+ years of experience in high-speed digital design, multi-gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity.
2+ years of experience using schematic tools.
2+ years of experience using lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters.
Master's degree or PhD in electrical engineering or computer engineering (preferred); familiarity with analog fundamentals, power supply design, and instrument control programming (preferred).
