HW Dev Engineer II - Payload, Amazon Leo Hardware Development is a role within the hardware development team focused on advanced satellite systems. You will be responsible for designing and optimizing circuitry, creating proof of concept prototypes for next-generation hardware, and leading or reviewing PCB layouts. Your daily work involves collaborating with radiation, power, mechanical, thermal, RF, and software teams to manage the full design lifecycle from concept through production. Key responsibilities include developing automated test systems, fixtures, and factory tests, as well as executing bring-up and qualification campaigns. The role requires expertise in board level analog and digital design, high-speed digital design with multi-gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity, and proficiency with Mentor Graphics or Cadence tools. You will utilize lab equipment like oscilloscopes and logic analyzers to solve complex satellite hardware challenges.
Design and optimize circuitry for satellite systems.
Develop proof of concept prototypes for next-generation satellite hardware.
Lead and review PCB layouts using industry-standard tools.
Design automated test systems, test fixtures, and factory testing procedures.
Execute bring-up and qualification test campaigns for satellite hardware.
Debug and validate products throughout the entire design lifecycle from concept to production.
What we're looking for
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted as a refugee/asylee for export control compliance.
BS degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
3+ years of industrial experience in board level analog/digital design.
1+ years of experience in high-speed digital design, multi-gigabit SERDES, signal and power integrity.
2+ years of experience using schematic tools.
2+ years of experience using lab equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and multi-meters.
Experience with Mentor Graphics or Cadence layout tools.
Master's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent (preferred); familiarity with analog fundamentals, power supply design, and programming (preferred).
