As a Hardware Validation Engineer on the DoorDash Labs team, you will verify and validate system requirements for Dot, a next-generation autonomous delivery robot. You will join the V&V team to develop and execute test campaigns ensuring hardware meets performance, safety, and regulatory goals. Your daily responsibilities include validating electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety, and sensing performance across diverse environments while constructing test tooling, fixtures, and documentation. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners in DevOps, Software, Firmware, Controls, AI, and Ops to resolve technical issues. The role requires expertise in CAN bus and Ethernet data logging and analysis tools, experience with environmental testing such as thermal, shock, and IP testing, and a working understanding of vehicle mechanicals, electronics, and autonomous vehicle perception systems to solve complex robotics challenges.

What you'll do

Verify and validate system requirements for next-generation autonomous delivery robot hardware.
Develop and execute test campaigns to ensure performance, safety, and regulatory goals.
Validate electrical, mechanical, thermal, safety, and sensing performance across diverse environments.
Perform rigorous testing and troubleshooting to improve robot reliability.
Construct and maintain test tooling, fixtures, and technical documentation.
Lead test reviews and report on the progress of test programs.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in engineering, such as robotics, mechanical, electrical, or computer science.
5+ years of industry experience in automotive or mechatronics engineering testing and validation at the system level.
Hands-on experience with CAN bus and Ethernet data logging and analysis tools.
Experience with environmental testing including thermal, shock, and IP testing.
A track record of managing complex, cross-functional projects and programs.
Working understanding of vehicle mechanicals and electronics.
Familiarity with autonomous vehicle perception systems.
