As a Graduate 2026 PhD Software Engineer II (AV Labs), you will join a multi-disciplinary team focused on unlocking real-world, long-tail driving data for autonomous technology. You will work on Physical AI, developing advanced autonomy algorithms to add rich semantics to massive driving data. Your daily responsibilities include developing algorithms to extract high-fidelity semantic meaning from complex urban edge cases, architecting onboard systems, and managing upstream sensor dependencies. You will also define requirements for large evaluation datasets and objective metrics. The role requires proficiency in C++ and Linux environments, along with knowledge of control and optimization theory, game theory, and computer vision. You will solve the technical problem of deep scene understanding and causal modeling of ego vehicle behavior to enrich the L4 data lake.

What we're looking for
Completing or recently completed a PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Vision, Fluid Mechanics, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field.
Experience in the Autonomous Driving domain (preferred).
Proven track record of deploying algorithms in safety-critical physical systems (preferred).
Knowledge of game theory (preferred).
Experience with control and optimization theory as part of the course of study (preferred).
Proficient in C++ and Linux environments (preferred).
