As a GNC Engineer (Starship), you will join a talented team of engineers to push technical boundaries for flight control systems on advanced rockets and the Starship vehicle. Your daily responsibilities include developing innovative guidance, navigation, and control systems, performing multi-disciplinary system investigations, and designing systems architecture. You will implement new software and algorithms to enable unique mission capabilities while developing 6-DOF dynamics simulation models for analysis and validation. Additionally, you will analyze launch vehicle trajectories, performance dispersions, and flight stability while conducting post-flight data reviews. To succeed, you must possess expertise in control systems, orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulation. You will utilize Python and C++ to perform hardware-in-the-loop testing, Monte Carlo analysis, and algorithm unit testing to ensure high reliability for the reusable spacecraft and its associated mission operations.
Develop innovative guidance, navigation, and control systems for the Starship vehicle.
Design multi-disciplinary vehicle systems architecture through technical investigations.
Implement new software and algorithms to enable unique mission capabilities and performance.
Create 6-DOF dynamics simulation models for GNC system analysis and validation.
Analyze launch vehicle trajectories, flight stability, and performance dispersions.
Conduct post-flight data reviews to correlate results with predictive analyses.
Support active launch and mission operations for the systems you develop.
Perform GNC software testing using hardware-in-the-loop, Monte Carlo analysis, and unit testing.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in physics or an engineering discipline.
Experience with control systems, orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, modeling, and simulation.
Proficiency in Python or C++ programming languages.
Postgraduate degree in physics or an engineering discipline is preferred.
2+ years of professional experience in control systems, orbital mechanics, classical dynamics, aerodynamics, sensors, actuators, modeling, and simulation.
Experience with launch vehicle and/or spacecraft systems.
Ability to solve complex problems independently or as part of a team.
Must be a U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, or eligible for required export control authorizations.
