JOB TITLE: Firmware Design Engineer TSC is seeking a Firmware Design Engineer to join the Radar & Precision Weapons Development organization. Working within a multidisciplinary team of systems, electrical hardware, and software engineers, you will design, implement, and test FPGA-based digital systems and signal processing algorithms for advanced RF sensors. Your daily responsibilities include translating system requirements into digital hardware, troubleshooting designs at simulation and board levels, and developing test software and scripts. You will utilize hardware description languages like VHDL or Verilog, along with tools such as MATLAB, Python, and Vivado Design Suite. The role requires expertise in synchronous logic, finite-state machines, and pipelining to solve complex signal-processing problems. You will also manage engineering documentation, source control, and configuration management for various RF sensor programs.

What you'll do

Design, implement, and integrate FPGA-based firmware for advanced RF sensors.
Translate system and signal-processing requirements into digital hardware and FPGA implementations.
Troubleshoot design issues at the simulation, board, and system levels.
Author engineering documentation including design descriptions, user manuals, and interface control documents.
Develop test software, scripts, and procedures to verify FPGA functionality.
Manage source control, configuration management, peer reviews, and defect tracking.

What we're looking for

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical degree.
0-5 years of experience developing and implementing firmware designs.
Familiarity with at least one hardware description language, such as VHDL or Verilog.
Basic understanding of digital design concepts including synchronous logic, FSMs, pipelining, clock domains, and timing.
Familiarity with FPGAs and FPGA design development.
Experience with software configuration management tools.
Ability to use engineering analysis or scripting tools such as MATLAB or Python.
U.S. Citizenship required and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.
