The Ergonomics Product Design Engineering Program Manager, Vision Products Group is a technical role within the Vision Products Group. You will drive cross-functional research, user studies, safety, fit, comfort, and performance requirements for an advanced ergonomic product design organization. Your daily responsibilities include defining product specifications, executing user studies, creating validation plans, and managing the manufacturing and assembly of early prototypes. You will translate user-study data into hardware prototypes, manage budgets, and maintain knowledge management systems. Key skills include program management, human systems engineering, and experience with manufacturing and rapid-prototyping. You will solve complex human factor trade-offs for spatial computing hardware, mapping end-to-end feature specifications to test requirements while collaborating with Product Design, Applied Research, and Core Technology teams to ensure seamless user experience.
Develop research questions and studies regarding perceptual comfort, fit, safety, and user experience.
Translate user-study data into hardware prototypes and demonstrations in collaboration with design teams.
Drive the manufacturing and assembly of early prototypes while managing the project budget.
Create and document hardware system specifications based on top-level product features.
Map end-to-end feature specifications to specific test and validation requirements.
Maintain a knowledge management system to capture and organize user-study data and findings.
Create and maintain development schedules by identifying pitfalls and developing improved courses of action.
Present technical findings and status updates to cross-functional partners and executive management.
What we're looking for
BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, or equivalent degree/experience.
6+ years of combined experience in program management and human/systems engineering delivering products with complex integration and user study execution.
Experience leading full life-cycle, end-to-end program development in highly dynamic and ambiguous work environments.
Wide knowledge of product development processes including manufacturing, rapid-prototyping, and assembly processes.
Ability to distill and communicate hardware/software design trade-offs to functional teams and leadership.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and cross-functional engagement skills.
Excellent problem solving and creative thinking skills.
Experience managing projects requiring in-person user-study sessions and complex data analysis (preferred).
Prior experience with design of human studies for engineering evaluation (preferred).
