What you'll do

  • Conduct load studies for planned and emergency work to assess capacity and ensure safe switching operations.
  • Commission Smart Grid equipment including Distribution Automation, Volt/VAR Optimization, and Advanced Distribution Management Systems.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for system operators regarding new technologies and distribution systems.
  • Analyze data to recommend solutions that minimize risks to facilities and the public.
  • Coordinate work activities of others within the group or department to complete routine tasks.
  • Develop and present technical reports such as improvement requisitions, studies, and analyses.
  • Use scheduling techniques like CPM and PERT to manage project budgets and planning activities.
  • Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees on engineering procedures and standards.

What we're looking for

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology.
  • Ability to perform intermediate level engineering work using analytical techniques and theory to solve complex problems.
  • Experience conducting load studies for planned and emergency work to assess capacity and ensure safe switching operations.
  • Proficiency in commissioning Smart Grid equipment, including Distribution Automation, Volt/VAR Optimization, and Advanced Distribution Management Systems.
  • Ability to provide technical support and troubleshooting for system operators regarding new technologies and distribution systems.
  • Ability to coordinate project activities using scheduling techniques such as CPM, PERT, or flow charts.
  • Ability to develop and present clear technical reports, including studies and analysis.
  • Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering examination is encouraged and preferred (preferred).
