Embedded Real Time Operating System Senior Software Engineer (QuRT OS, Zephyr) joins the Core Platform Kernel team to develop and deploy RTOS software for various subsystems on Qualcomm chips. The role involves designing, developing, testing, and supporting new features for QuRT OS, which is optimized for Hexagon processors, as well as customizing and contributing to the open-source Zephyr RTOS. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining continuous integration systems, resolving architecture issues, and ensuring performance standards are met across mobile, automotive, and IoT segments. Candidates will utilize C, C++, Assembly (RISC-V, ARM, Hexagon), Python, and tools like QEMU, JTAG, and Jenkins. The work focuses on solving technical challenges in high-performance, low-power edge AI, 5G modem functionality, and secure audio processing by leveraging deep knowledge of multi-core computer architecture and specialized processor designs.
Develop, test, and deploy QuRT OS features for Hexagon processor subsystems.
Customize and deploy the Zephyr RTOS to multiple Qualcomm SoC subsystems.
Contribute code and improvements back to the open-source Zephyr community.
Maintain and enhance continuous integration and automated testing systems.
Design and implement new RTOS features based on hardware architecture requirements.
Resolve architectural and design issues across multiple system components.
Document technical specifications, feature designs, and tracking of system changes.
What we're looking for
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required for candidates with 2+ years of experience.
A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required for candidates with 1+ year of experience.
A PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is an acceptable educational qualification.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience with high-performance microprocessor design.
Experience in embedded software development using C, C++, and Assembly (RISC-V, ARM, Hexagon) is required.
Proficiency in scripting and automation using Python is preferred.
Experience in embedded software debugging tools such as JTAG, Trace32, OpenOCD, Segger J-Link, or LLDB is valued.
Familiarity with continuous integration, source control systems (GitHub, Gerrit, GitLab), and automotive standards like ASPICE or ISO-26262 is preferred.
