Electrician

What you'll do

• Troubleshoot, repair, and test mechanical and electrical systems including plant equipment.
• Locate and repair defects in solid state, electronic, and mechanical components using wiring and control diagrams.
• Perform diagnostic testing on motor operated valve actuators, limit switches, and torque switches.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair emergency lighting battery packs and various types of lighting.
• Lubricate bearings on electric motors and adjust or replace belts on pulleys.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble standard electric motors while making splices and connections.
• Perform routine maintenance on switches, sockets, and outlets up to 260 volts.
• Execute layout work for conduit and use power tools to assemble or disassemble devices for repair.

What we're looking for

• Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent technical training and/or experience.
• One year of experience in the electrical field (combined with training to meet 3 years total).
• Two years of experience as Electrician C plus three years of related electrical work experience.
• Two years of experience as Electrician B plus three years of related electrical work experience.
• Specific knowledge of nuclear standards and nuclear policies, practices, and procedures relating to plant operations.
• Strong interpersonal skills.
• Successful completion of the Plant Maintenance Selection System (MASS) test.
• Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45-minute safe drive time to the Cook Nuclear Power Plant.
