What you'll do

  • Define electrical design-basis requirements and equipment specifications for gas, coal, and renewable power generation projects.
  • Perform power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash, and harmonics analysis.
  • Review vendor drawings, technical bids, and RFx deliverables to provide comments and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Manage OEM interactions during procurement by coordinating submittal reviews, factory testing, and lead-time tracking.
  • Provide construction and commissioning support through site inspections, cable testing, and relay settings assistance.
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant codes such as IEEE, NEC/NFPA70, ANSI, and IEC.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, civil, and I&C teams to resolve integration issues and SCADA/DCS interface requirements.
  • Develop O&M documentation, spare parts lists, and lifecycle cost inputs for the generation portfolio.

What we're looking for

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program and related experience, or a Master's/PhD with experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of utility-scale power plant systems including generators, GSUs, distribution systems, switchgear, and protective relaying.
  • Proficiency in electrical design and analysis tools such as ETAP, SKM/PowerTools, CYME, MATLAB, AutoCAD, or MicroStation.
  • Ability to interpret single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical reports.
  • Experience with power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash, and harmonics.
  • Familiarity with power electronics for renewables, battery storage, inverters, or utility interconnection practices (preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with scripting or databases is beneficial.
