TL;DR · DSP Engineer, Satellites (Starlink)

Join the Starlink Space Lasers team as a DSP Engineer, contributing to the development of advanced satellite communication systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and test algorithms for on-orbit and ground-based data processing, drive program-level decisions, and perform system-level modeling in Python, Matlab, or C/C++. Key responsibilities include developing signal processing algorithms, verifying modems and sensors, and conducting simulations to validate overall system performance. Expertise in digital signal processing, FPGA development with Xilinx toolchain, and understanding of RF and optical concepts is essential. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology at scale, shaping the future of satellite communication systems.

What you'll do

  • Drive program-level decisions on firmware and software designs.
  • Research novel solutions for large-scale, long-distance free space optical communication systems.
  • Design and test algorithms for on-orbit and ground-based data processing.
  • Develop floating-point and fixed-point models to analyze system performance.
  • Perform on-orbit demonstrations and testing of laser communication systems.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or 3+ years of DSP experience
  • Design and verify modems and sensors for satellite communication systems
  • Develop signal processing algorithms using Python, Matlab, or C/C++
  • Model floating-point and fixed-point signal processing algorithms
  • Experience with coherent digital demodulation techniques and RF/Optical concepts
