The Director, Software Engineering will lead the Data Ventures L2/SRE organization, transforming reactive production support into a proactive, engineering-led reliability function. This leader will define reliability strategies across Data Ventures, establishing standards for observability, SLOs/SLAs, incident management, alerting, and production readiness. Day-to-day responsibilities include modernizing operations through AI-assisted triage, automation, self-service, and systematic toil reduction while partnering with engineering teams to improve platform resilience and scalability. The role requires deep expertise in reliability engineering, DevOps, cloud platforms, monitoring, and operational excellence. The successful candidate will build a high-performing SRE team focused on ownership and continuous improvement. This position solves the technical problem of manual support overhead by creating a scalable, automated, and resilient ecosystem for the Data Ventures product area.
Lead the transformation of the L2 support team into an engineering-led SRE organization.
Define reliability standards for SLOs, SLAs, observability, incident management, and production readiness.
Modernize operations using AI-assisted triage, automation, and self-service tools to reduce toil.
Partner with engineering teams to eliminate recurring issues and strengthen production ownership.
Establish and track measurable reliability and operational KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
Build and develop a high-performing SRE team with strong technical expertise and customer focus.
Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve platform resilience, scalability, and performance.
What we're looking for
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Option 2: 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
3 years' supervisory experience.
Proven engineering leadership experience building and leading high-performing SRE, production engineering, or platform teams.
Deep understanding of reliability engineering, SLOs/SLAs, observability, incident management, resiliency, and production operations.
Experience transforming reactive support models into proactive, automation-driven SRE practices.
Strong expertise in DevOps, cloud platforms, monitoring, automation, and operational excellence.
Ability to leverage AI and automation to improve triage, remediation, self-service, and reduce operational toil.
