As a Director, Full-Stack Engineer, Shopping Tech, you will join a remote-first engineering team to develop customer-facing web applications and services for a growth-stage business. You will lead, manage, and mentor multiple teams of product-focused software engineers while collaborating with product managers to define application capabilities and testing scenarios. Your daily responsibilities include improving software engineering practices, ensuring the craftsmanship and scalability of solutions, and breaking down monolithic applications into microservice architectures. The role requires expertise in technologies including Node.js, Java, Go, React, Python, REST, JSON, NoSQL, and relational databases within AWS cloud infrastructure. You will also work with Machine learning models and Big Data techniques to solve technical challenges. Key competencies include software architecture, distributed systems, and the strategic application of agentic AI coding tools to improve development velocity across various agile teams.

What you'll do

Lead, manage, and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers.
Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of team members.
Partner with product managers to define application capabilities and testing scenarios.
Improve software engineering practices and increase development velocity across teams.
Ensure the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of all technical solutions.
Deploy new and existing applications into AWS cloud environments.
Deconstruct monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (preferred).
At least 5 years of people management experience.
At least 7 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, data architecture, and cloud computing.
10+ years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, enterprise architecture, data architecture, and cloud computing (preferred).
10+ years of professional experience coding in Go, Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Rust, C#, or Scala (preferred).
8+ years of experience with database and database management systems (preferred).
5+ years of experience mentoring senior engineers and driving professional development within technical teams (preferred).
