TL;DR · Director, Cluster Forward Deployment Engineering Data Center GPU

The Director, Cluster Forward Deployment Engineering leads a globally distributed team of Forward Deployed Engineers to support strategic customers, including cloud service providers, hyperscalers, and AI infrastructure accounts. This executive leadership role involves owning the technical engagement model for large-scale datacenter deployments, guiding customers from initial architecture and proof-of-concept through cluster bring-up, workload enablement, and production scaling. The role requires resolving complex cross-stack issues involving GPU hardware, firmware, ROCm software, AI frameworks, networking, storage, and cluster management. Candidates must possess deep expertise in distributed systems, Linux, Kubernetes, containers, and performance optimization. The position serves as a bridge between customer engineering teams and internal product organizations, translating field experience into actionable product feedback while developing reusable deployment patterns and reference architectures for large-scale GPU computing environments.

What you'll do

  • Lead and develop a globally distributed team of Forward Deployed Engineers to support strategic cloud and AI infrastructure customers.
  • Own the technical engagement strategy for Mega Data Center and Cloud Service Provider accounts to align resources with customer priorities.
  • Drive end-to-end customer deployment execution from initial architecture and proof-of-concept through cluster bring-up and production scale.
  • Resolve complex cross-stack technical issues involving GPU hardware, firmware, ROCm software, networking, and storage.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point and build trusted relationships with customer engineering leaders and executive stakeholders.
  • Convert customer deployment friction and feature gaps into actionable product feedback and roadmap priorities for internal teams.
  • Develop reusable deployment patterns, reference architectures, and technical playbooks to improve execution consistency across accounts.
  • Define and track key engineering metrics including time-to-deployment, production readiness, and workload performance.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Advanced degree in a technical field (preferred).
  • Solid years of relevant experience in engineering leadership, software engineering, solutions architecture, customer engineering, or technical program management.
  • Proven track record in customer-facing engineering, forward deployed engineering, solutions architecture, software engineering, or systems engineering (preferred).
  • Proven success leading and scaling engineering teams responsible for customer deployment, technical integration, production adoption, or operational enablement (preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with MDC providers, cloud service providers, hyperscalers, AI infrastructure companies, OEMs, ODMs, and enterprise customers (preferred).
  • Deep understanding of large-scale GPU deployments, AI training and inference environments, distributed systems, datacenter operations, server architecture, networking, storage, Linux, Kubernetes, containers, and performance optimization (preferred).
  • Strong executive presence with experience influencing customer and internal leadership teams across engineering, product, operations, support, and commercial organizations (preferred).
