As a Data Product Manager within Employee Platforms, you will lead the discovery, design, and delivery of data products that enable smarter workflows and measurable operational outcomes. You will serve as the connective tissue between business stakeholders, data engineering, and governance teams to translate complex workflow needs into governed, reusable data assets. Your daily responsibilities include analyzing end-to-end processes to identify automation opportunities, defining data domain concepts like entities and measures, and managing product lifecycles including backlogs and releases. You will ensure data quality, lineage, and metadata documentation while enforcing governance practices in a multi-domain enterprise. The role requires expertise in product engineering, analytics platform management, and requirement gathering. Preferred skills include experience with warehouse and lakehouse patterns, semantic layers, and supporting controlled reporting within regulated environments involving personal information.
Translate business stakeholder needs into clear product requirements, user stories, and technical roadmaps.
Analyze end-to-end workflows to identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and data-driven decision making.
Define data domain concepts, including entities, events, and measures, to ensure consistent metric logic across teams.
Partner with engineering teams to deliver curated datasets, governed metrics layers, and comprehensive metadata documentation.
Enforce enterprise data governance practices including ownership, stewardship, quality management, and change control.
Drive product adoption through training, documentation, and by embedding analytics into operational rhythms.
Manage the full product lifecycle including backlog prioritization, release planning, and deprecation processes.
Ensure all communications regarding metrics and reporting are accurate and tailored to specific audiences.
What we're looking for
Formal training or certification on product engineering concepts and 5+ years of applied experience.
Experience in data product management, analytics product management, or product management for data platforms in a complex enterprise environment.
Proven ability to gather stakeholder requirements and translate them into roadmaps, backlogs, and measurable outcomes.
Experience analyzing workflows and defining key performance indicators and metrics to support decisioning and operational improvement.
Experience working within data governance frameworks including definitions, ownership, stewardship, lineage, metadata, data quality, and change control.
Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with engineering, product, operations, and governance partners.
Strong written and verbal communication skills tailored for diverse audiences.
Experience with HR systems, modern data architectures, regulated reporting, or privacy-by-design principles (preferred).
