The Data Lead Architect- Institutional Division serves as the technical counterpart to the Data Steward, Director, and is responsible for assessing and directing technology to meet system requirements. This role designs and develops IT architecture solutions for business problems, defining policies, standards, and blueprints to ensure consistency across interdependent platforms. Key responsibilities include technical planning, system design, and preparing data assets for AI and machine learning use cases. The candidate will utilize enterprise architecture frameworks, SQL, databases, data lakes, warehouses, and cloud platforms. Specific required experience includes Snowflake, while Matillion and DBT are considered pluses. The role operates within a life and annuity insurance context, solving complex problems by integrating various technologies and ensuring that the technical environment supports downstream business and reporting use cases.
Design and develop IT architecture solutions to solve complex business problems.
Define and implement policies, standards, and architecture blueprints for firm-wide technology.
Assess the compatibility and integration of products to ensure a consistent architecture across platforms.
Create technical specifications for system inputs, outputs, and hardware/software compatibility.
Identify and resolve system design weaknesses to support downstream business and reporting use cases.
Research emerging technologies to develop migration plans and implementation roadmaps.
Structure data assets and pipelines to support AI and machine learning use cases.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced degree in a related field (preferred).
10+ years of progressive experience in IT/data architecture.
Proficiency with enterprise architecture frameworks, SQL, databases, data lakes/warehouses, cloud platforms, and systems integration methodologies.
Required experience with Snowflake.
Experience with Matillion and DBT (preferred).
Experience partnering with data governance/data steward functions within a life and annuity insurance company or broader financial services organization (preferred).
Experience defining architecture standards and roadmaps across multiple interdependent platforms firm-wide (preferred).
