The Data Governance and Metadata Scientist joins a team to transform complex structured and unstructured data into useful information for private and public sector clients. In this role, you will work closely with clients to understand their specific needs, digging into data-rich environments to solve information puzzles. You will lead the development of algorithms and systems, guiding teammates to turn disparate data points into objective answers. Key responsibilities include implementing metadata governance frameworks in cloud-based environments, tracking data lineage, and ensuring metadata synchronization across a Data Catalog, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise repositories. You will utilize OpenLineage and Apache Atlas while enforcing compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards for geospatial datasets. Required skills include expertise in data science, information management, or geographic information systems.

What we're looking for
Experience implementing metadata governance frameworks for structured and unstructured data in cloud-based environments.
Experience tracking data lineage and ensuring metadata synchronization across a Data Catalog, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise metadata repositories.
Experience utilizing OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, or tools for metadata and data lineage management.
Experience enforcing compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards for geospatial datasets.
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, or GIS, or 5+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or geospatial data integration.
Experience working in DoW or IC environments (preferred).
Experience with the RMF or ATO process (preferred).
Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), DAMA Certified Data Governance Professional (DGSP), or ESRI Geospatial Data Management Certification (preferred).
