As a Data Governance and Metadata Scientist, you will join a team dedicated to transforming complex structured and unstructured data into actionable information to solve global challenges. You will work closely with clients to understand their specific needs, digging into data-rich environments to identify key information pieces. Your daily responsibilities include leading the development of algorithms and systems, guiding teammates, and providing deep data insights to support informed decision-making. You will implement metadata governance frameworks in cloud-based environments, track data lineage, and ensure metadata synchronization across a Data Catalog, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise repositories. Required skills include experience with OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, and enforcing DoD metadata policies for geospatial datasets. You must possess expertise in data science, information management, or geographic information systems.
Implement metadata governance frameworks for structured and unstructured data in cloud-based environments.
Track data lineage and ensure metadata synchronization across Data Catalogs and enterprise repositories.
Utilize tools like OpenLineage and Apache Atlas for metadata and lineage management.
Enforce compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards for geospatial datasets.
Develop algorithms and systems to turn disparate data points into objective answers.
Translate complex data sets into useful information to solve specific client problems.
Provide deep analysis of data meaning and practical applications to advise clients.
What we're looking for
Experience implementing metadata governance frameworks for structured and unstructured data in cloud-based environments.
Experience tracking data lineage and ensuring metadata synchronization across a Data Catalog, ESRI Kubernetes, and enterprise metadata repositories.
Experience utilizing OpenLineage, Apache Atlas, or tools for metadata and data lineage management.
Experience enforcing compliance with DoD metadata policies and NSG tradecraft standards for geospatial datasets.
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Information Management, or GIS, or 5+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or geospatial data integration.
Experience working in DoW or IC environments (preferred).
Experience with the RMF or ATO process (preferred).
Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), DAMA Certified Data Governance Professional (DGSP), or ESRI Geospatial Data Management Certification (preferred).
