TL;DR · Data Center Technician

As a Data Center Technician at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, you will join a dynamic team responsible for maintaining 24/7 data center operations on a significant scale. Your role involves installing and configuring enterprise servers, troubleshooting hardware issues, and managing cabling infrastructure in a multi-tenant cloud environment. You will work independently on small projects and collaborate with your manager to execute larger initiatives, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The position requires knowledge of server/storage/network hardware, experience with IT equipment maintenance, and familiarity with concepts like RAID, SAN, and Linux/Unix systems. Ideal candidates have a background in structured cabling and cooling/electrical system management within data centers, though strong interest in learning new DC concepts is also valued. This role demands flexibility, including shift work on weekends and holidays, and the ability to respond promptly to critical events.

What you'll do

  • Install and configure enterprise servers and cabling infrastructure in data centers.
  • Troubleshoot and replace faulty network switch equipment to maintain connectivity.
  • Perform hardware break/fix replacements for FRUs (Field Replaceable Units) efficiently.
  • Document activities, build SOPs, and manage inventory of server parts and components.
  • Execute small projects independently and collaborate with managers on larger initiatives.

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of IT environment experience, including server and network device troubleshooting.
  • Experience in hardware installation, configuration, and break/fix replacement of FRUs.
  • Knowledge of server/storage/network hardware and IT hardware concepts (RAID, SAN).
  • Ability to manage inventory, order parts, and handle on-call shifts for critical events.
  • Proficiency in structured cabling, labeling, and troubleshooting fiber/copper/telecom cables.
