As a Facilities Operations Technician III – Mechanical in a hyperscale data center environment, you will independently support the reliability and efficiency of mission-critical mechanical and HVAC systems. Your daily tasks include advanced troubleshooting, incident response, root cause analysis, and maintenance planning to ensure system uptime and performance. You will work closely with site operations teams, vendors, and engineering groups to improve mechanical system maintainability and efficiency, while also contributing to capacity planning and equipment change-outs. Essential skills include strong knowledge of cooling infrastructure, controls integration, and operational risk management, along with the ability to interpret complex mechanical drawings and documentation. Experience in data centers or similar high-availability facilities is preferred, as well as familiarity with BMS systems, PLC concepts, and EPA Section 608 Technician Certification for refrigerant handling.

What you'll do

  • Independently troubleshoot and maintain mechanical and HVAC systems in hyperscale data centers.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, incident response, and root cause analysis for system issues.
  • Improve operational standards and documentation quality for mechanical systems.
  • Support capacity planning, retrofits, and commissioning activities for mechanical equipment.
  • Coordinate with vendors, engineering teams, and operations stakeholders to enhance system reliability.

What we're looking for

  • 3 to 5+ years of experience with mission-critical mechanical systems
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC and mechanical issues independently
  • Experience with BMS, PLC/controls, trending, alarm management, and commissioning
  • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification preferred for refrigerant-handling roles
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training required
  • Familiarity with chillers, pumps, cooling towers, CRAH/CRAC units, and heat exchangers
