As a Data Architect, Senior, you will join the team to own the design, governance, and evolution of enterprise data architecture supporting analytics, reporting, and operational insights for DoD clients. This hands-on technical role involves designing schemas, optimizing queries, and managing data modeling decisions using Python and SQL. You will be responsible for establishing data governance standards, maintaining data catalogs, monitoring quality, and ensuring lineage across production assets. Additionally, you will lead client-facing initiatives, including new customer intake and comprehensive data maturity assessments to create actionable roadmaps. The role requires expertise in AWS environments, ETL/ELT processes, and relational databases. You will solve complex problems regarding data integrity and infrastructure for mission-critical programs while ensuring compliance with specific security requirements within a fast-paced, agile environment focused on delivering high-quality, requirement-driven results.
Own and manage the enterprise data model including schema design, documentation, and lineage.
Establish and enforce data governance standards for naming conventions, quality controls, and access policies.
Maintain a comprehensive data catalog to ensure assets are discoverable and usable by all teams.
Lead data quality monitoring by defining rules, thresholds, and remediation processes.
Conduct client-facing data maturity assessments to evaluate systems and deliver actionable roadmaps.
Design and build technical data solutions using Python and SQL.
Evaluate and recommend data tools, storage strategies, and architectural patterns based on cost-benefit analysis.
Perform regular technical debt reviews and security audits to ensure compliance with DoD requirements.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree required.
Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
5+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or analytics engineering including ownership of enterprise or program-level data models.
Experience with SQL and database technologies including dimensional modeling, query optimization, and cloud data platforms.
Experience with Python data frameworks for processing, transformation, and automation.
Experience designing and governing data architectures in AWS-based environments.
Experience establishing and enforcing data governance practices, quality frameworks, metadata management, and lineage.
Experience with ETL/ELT processes and project management of schedule-bound technical engagements.
