TL;DR · Cyber Threat Hunter

As a senior individual contributor within Cyber Security Operations, the Cyber Threat Hunter builds behavior-based detection capabilities to identify adversary activity before incidents become material. The role involves transforming enterprise telemetry into high-confidence signals and durable detections using inside-out intelligence, data science, and AI-enabled development workflows in a cloud environment. Key responsibilities include translating attacker techniques into testable logic via a detection-as-code approach, defining telemetry requirements, and validating suspicious behaviors through digital forensics and incident response methods. The candidate will utilize Python for data analysis and automation, while applying statistical modeling and machine learning techniques to security telemetry. Required skills include experience with sequence analysis, behavioral analytics, and the MITRE ATT&CK framework. Technical tools mentioned include Google SecOps or Chronicle, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and various APIs for building signal pipelines and workflow automation solutions.

What you'll do

  • Build behavior-based detections to identify adversary activity across identity, endpoint, cloud, network, and application telemetry.
  • Translate attacker techniques and malware behaviors into testable detection logic using a detection-as-code approach.
  • Define telemetry, enrichment, and normalization requirements to improve signal quality and close coverage gaps in cloud environments.
  • Apply statistical methods, machine learning, and Python workflows to develop behavioral models and improve detection precision.
  • Validate suspicious behaviors using digital forensics and incident response methods to distinguish malicious activity from benign anomalies.
  • Operationalize detections by providing triage guidance, severity rationale, and MITRE ATT&CK classification for security teams.
  • Utilize external threat intelligence to provide context while ensuring detections are grounded in observable enterprise telemetry.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Security, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in detection engineering, threat hunting, forensics, incident response, malware analysis, or other advanced security domains.
  • 8+ years of experience building behavior-based detections across large-scale enterprise telemetry using correlation and behavioral analytics.
  • 8+ years of experience using digital forensics and incident response methods to validate suspicious activity across host, identity, cloud, and network environments.
  • 8+ years of experience using Python for data analysis, automation, feature engineering, and repeatable analytical workflows in cybersecurity.
  • 6+ years of experience applying statistical modeling or machine learning methods to security telemetry.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools with validation, testing, and secure coding practices.
  • Valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization.
