The Cyber Threat Hunter joins a team focused on strengthening the cyber defensive posture of the DoDIN-A (NG) in alignment with DoD and Army cybersecurity regulations. This role involves conducting proactive hunts across enterprise networks, endpoints, and datasets to identify malicious activities that evade existing tools. You will utilize agile, threat-intelligence-driven, or hypothesis-based hunting techniques alongside the MITRE ATT&CK framework to prioritize missing detection capabilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing host, network, and application logs using Elastic and Splunk platforms, investigating network intrusions, and maintaining knowledge of malware functionality. You will also author SOPs, playbooks, and work instructions while delivering risk analysis reports to senior leadership. The role requires expertise in cyber threat hunting, detection, and security architecture to protect ARNG technologies and workforce from evolving cyber risks within an ITIL-based service management framework.
Conduct proactive hunts across enterprise networks and endpoints to detect malicious or risky activities.
Use the MITRE ATT&CK framework and threat intelligence to identify gaps in detection capabilities.
Analyze host, network, and application logs using platforms like Elastic and Splunk.
Investigate perpetrators of network intrusions and related malicious activities.
Maintain expertise in malware functionality and communicate technical threats to non-technical stakeholders.
Develop and deliver risk analysis reports and threat findings to senior leadership.
Author and maintain standard operating procedures, playbooks, and work instructions for cyber operations.
What we're looking for
Must be a United States citizen.
Must possess an active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility at the time of interview.
Bachelor's degree in cybersecurity, information assurance, computer science, or a related technical field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
6 to 8 years of demonstrated experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or computer science.
Must hold a baseline certification meeting DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II, such as CompTIA Security+ CE or EC-Council CEH.
Must obtain an additional CSSP category certification, such as CEH, CCNA Security, or CND, within six months of hire.
Experience in cyber threat hunting, threat detection, and cyber security architecture is required.
