TL;DR · Consultant, Product Management

The Consultant, Product Management joins the Unstructured Storage team to help define the full-stack infrastructure powering next-generation artificial intelligence. This role involves collaborating with leading AI organizations to translate ambitious goals into scalable, production-ready solutions across the PowerScale, ObjectScale, Lightning File System, and Exascale Storage portfolios. You will own product area backlogs, prioritize requirements, and prototype hypotheses with customers. Daily tasks include whiteboarding architectures, developing rack-level designs, and evaluating tradeoffs for performance, capacity, and resiliency. Key technical requirements include experience with AI data pipelines, high-performance computing infrastructure, and scale-out file, object, and distributed storage architectures. You must also understand Ethernet and InfiniBand networking, including topology, bandwidth, and latency, to solve complex systems challenges and integrate storage, servers, GPUs, and orchestration platforms into complete solutions.

What you'll do

  • Own product area backlogs and requirements while prioritizing tasks for maximum impact.
  • Prototype, experiment, and validate technical hypotheses directly with customers.
  • Develop complete rack-level designs accounting for performance, capacity, resiliency, and power needs.
  • Translate ambiguous customer needs into clear requirements and actionable solution designs.
  • Plan product launches and coordinate cross-functional readiness across the organization.
  • Whiteboard architectures with customers to solve complex storage, networking, and compute challenges.
  • Ensure all products meet specific analytics, accessibility, and performance standards.

What we're looking for

  • Hands-on experience designing or deploying AI, machine learning, or high-performance computing infrastructure.
  • Understanding of AI data pipelines, including ingestion, preparation, training, inference, and long-term retention.
  • Strong knowledge of scale-out file, object, and distributed storage architectures.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous customer needs into clear requirements and actionable solution designs.
  • Confidence engaging with technical practitioners, architects, executives, product teams, and engineering organizations.
  • Ability to communicate a compelling product vision while remaining credible at a deep technical level.
  • Strong troubleshooting, benchmarking, and proof-of-concept skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to simplify complex technical concepts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Dell PowerScale, ObjectScale, Lightning File System, or Exascale Storage technologies (preferred).
  • Ability to develop rack-level designs including component selection, cabling, power, and capacity planning (preferred).
  • Experience sizing solutions based on workload profiles, performance requirements, and resiliency objectives (preferred).
  • Strong whiteboarding, architecture-diagramming, and technical presentation skills (preferred).
  • Experience integrating storage, high-speed networking, servers, GPUs, and orchestration platforms (preferred).
  • Knowledge of Ethernet and InfiniBand networking, including topology, bandwidth, and latency (preferred).
