TL;DR · Compute Systems Architect, Expeditionary AI/HPC Data Centers

Compute Systems Architect - Expeditionary AI/HPC Data Centers The Compute Systems Architect joins the Anduril Expeditionary Systems team to design and build tactical AI Factory data centers for processing petabyte-scale data at the edge. This role involves architecting end-to-end infrastructure, including compute node selection, power distribution, thermal management, and physical hardening for air-transportable, modular systems. The candidate will develop GPU-accelerated clusters using NVIDIA H100/A100 or AMD MI300 hardware to support AI inference and training in austere, contested environments. Key responsibilities include engineering advanced cooling solutions like liquid or immersion systems and ensuring infrastructure meets requirements for high-density compute without traditional facilities. The role requires expertise in electrical products, power distribution, and thermal management for high-power-density systems. This position solves the critical problem of providing robust, mobile computing capabilities in degraded environments to enable real-time decision-making at forward operating bases.

What you'll do

  • Architect the end-to-end infrastructure for tactical AI factories including compute hardware, power distribution, networking, and thermal cooling.
  • Design GPU-accelerated compute clusters optimized for AI inference and training workloads at the tactical edge.
  • Engineer advanced thermal management solutions like liquid or immersion cooling for high-density computing without traditional infrastructure.
  • Develop air-transportable, modular systems that are rapidly deployable in austere, contested, and power-constrained environments.
  • Translate defense customer requirements into technical architectures for hardened, mission-critical hardware.
  • Lead the prototyping, field testing, and operational validation of systems through military exercises and real-world deployments.
  • Drive products from initial concept through production at scale across hardware, software, and supply chain teams.
  • Define standards and best practices for tactical AI compute infrastructure across all company product lines.

What we're looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and deploying data center infrastructure, HPC clusters, or large-scale compute systems.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience designing and deploying electrical products.
  • Deep expertise in GPU-accelerated computing architecture for AI/ML workloads on platforms like NVIDIA or AMD.
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution systems for high-density compute including PDUs, UPS systems, and energy management.
  • U.S. Person status required; must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline (preferred); Active Secret Clearance or higher (preferred).
  • U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
