Cloud Security Engineer

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate core security infrastructure used by all of Stripe's engineering teams.
• Build core security controls and services to empower teams to build securely on a governed cloud platform.
• Design and build durable solutions that advance security beyond the current state of the art.
• Partner with infrastructure teams to integrate new cloud managed services and novel infrastructure.
• Define infrastructure that reliably feeds security signals to threat teams.
• Evaluate and prototype new security tools and practices to improve engineering standards.
• Develop automation tooling to continually drive down permissions and access across cloud services.
• Use data to determine appropriate baselines for measuring security effectiveness.

What we're looking for

• Software engineering experience in a high-stakes production environment.
• Experience with security on one or more of AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Empathy, strong communication skills, and a deep respect for the power of collaboration.
• A learning mindset and the ability to drive clear next steps in ambiguous spaces.
• High standards for code quality and a constructive attitude to help others raise the bar.
• Ability to think creatively and holistically about reducing risk in a complex environment.
• Experience conducting threat modeling of software or infrastructure in cloud-native environments (preferred).
• Experience with Linux systems, Kubernetes, container-based platforms, or security monitoring tools (preferred).
