Cellular System Performance Characterization Engineer

What you'll do

• Perform bringup, characterization, and optimization of 5G-NR cellular end-to-end systems in a lab environment.
• Validate data and control flows from the Baseband to RF across critical performance metrics.
• Develop in-house scripting tools for chipset bringup and instrument automation.
• Conduct pre-silicon emulation-based bringup and simulation-based validation of algorithms and control flows.
• Measure, prioritize, and analyze key performance metrics using analytics tools.
• Enhance measurement methodologies and software packages to improve coverage and efficiency during the design validation process.
• Maintain high-quality hardware platforms for daily firmware releases and continuous development.

What we're looking for

• A bachelor's degree is required, with a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred.
• Experience with Python, C/C++, and Matlab for analysis and automation scripting.
• Knowledge of RF performance metrics such as EVM, spectral mask, frequency error, and power accuracy.
• Hands-on experience bringing up RFICs in a lab using equipment like VSA, VSG, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
• Understanding of communication theory, signal processing, AGC, beamforming, Tx power control, and calibration algorithms.
• Knowledge of 3GPP specifications and technical background in wireless system physical layer and protocols.
• Experience with silicon prototyping, emulation systems, virtual platforms, and analytics software like Tableau or Spotfire.
• Experience in performance characterization of wireless systems focusing on PHY and RF layers for 4G/5G/LTE/WiFi.
